Whether I am trying to capture
the power and surge of a thrusting fountain or trying to deal with the Scandinavian
winter darkness, my work is about the essence of these topics. In all my
work, materials and forms are manipulated to create immediate impact, recognition,
emotional content, and visual fun. A recent theme has been figures with
strange thought bubbles. What was the model thinking in the series of "Thinking
Reclining Nudes?" Before that, waterless fountains and atmospheric
storms occupied my intentions as I attempted to capture the power of these
forces. My current work links figures in odd gestures and poses with the
critters of my imagination that I have been building for years.
